Recycled Earth Educational Farm Recycled Earth is designed to be an educational farm to teach people of all ages, about sustainable agriculture and living a happier and healthier lifestyle. As a certified teacher, I feel that schools are limited to what and how they can teach. www.sustainabletable.org provides a good definition of sustainable agriculture, and the practices Recycled Earth will be following. “Sustainable agriculture is the production of food, fiber, or other plant and animal products using farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare.” Recycled Earth will host two open houses each month, from April through October. These open house events will be completely free and open to the public*. Attendees will have the opportunity to look at the latest on-the-farm projects, walk through the gardens, go for a hike, try some farm trivia, meet the animals, and play family friendly games. The goal of the open houses is to spread the word that Recycled Earth exists, and advertise for the many programs the farm offers. In addition to the open house events, Recycled Earth will offer workshops and clinics for every farming practice we use on the farm. Birthday parties will be held on the farm and have options of pony rides, petting zoos, or personalized farm activities. Summer camp sessions take place from June-August. More information can be found under the Services tab and/or on the Calendar. Registration for summer camp begins every year on April 1st I would like to put an end to the era where children believe that chickens lay their eggs at night in peoples’ kitchens, and hamburger comes from a factory, not a living animal. Not only will Recycled Earth educate people for a healthier lifestyle and environment, it will provide an awesome and low-cost alternative to spending another Saturday indoors, glued to the latest technology that we can’t escape in this modern world. *Pony rides, concessions and other wares will have small fees.
